How do I get rid of an ant hill in my garden?

I have an Ant hill in my garden, actaully this garden is only an ant hill. The hill was establish before I bought the house. I am willing to plant ant friendly plants, I have had no success with that yet. I am not oppsed to using chemicals on them, if I can get my garden spot back. I don't want to give up on it. THe location is sunny and warm and gets full sun 75% of the day.

How do I get rid of an ant hill in my garden?
A five year old with a magnifying glass should work good.
Reply:Dear, Gardener

Gas and a match. Thats the way you retake your garden.

Sincerely, An Ant Hater
Reply:Boil a kettle.....pour it on!
Reply:what worked for us was Bug stop, we bought it at BI-Mart.

We also sprayed around the house so those little buggers could not come in. Other than that I would say an exterminator.

good Luck

Reply:Just dont step on it. old people says they'll curse ur entire life. but da truth is, they'll spread up and the entire garden will be full of ants. call for exterminators before distroying it
Reply:pour boiling water down the entry into the nest... they always have an exit too so find that and do the same... try to do this daily to flush them out...
Reply:Use black pepper or flea powder on and around the ant hill
Reply:Anteater duh!

or just fill it up with delicious hose water
Reply:the only way to get rid of it forever is spill gasolin in it and light it up i know it will not come back
Reply:Cucumbers and grits. Sounds crazy but they eat the grits and it draws the water out of their systems killing them. They also take it back to the others to eat. Ants do not like cucumbers if you put slices around a door they will not come in. Both of these methods are safe and non-toxic.
Reply:I have never tried this, but a guy at work swore by it. He got rid of the red ants that sting and bite by pouring a small amt of dry sugar down the opening and around their digs. Apparently they feed on the sugar only and die,not enough nutition. Might work!:)
Reply:try using boric acid....
Reply:Use the boiling water method . The most common ant poison is diazinon . It's very, very toxic to earthworms *(birds %26amp; people too). Not to mention , a lot more expensive than water .

* Diazinon is also used for grub control on lawns . A few years ago , the Cornell turfgrass program ( Norm Hummel %26amp; the boys) tested various grub controls for their effects on earthworms . Diazinon was the worst , with an average kill of 87% . (!!!!!!) ( btw, Jerry -I-love-diazinon- Baker is a %%26amp;*%26amp;^** fool!!)
Reply:you go to Home Depot or Lowes or even Wally World and get ant killer...
Reply:I use a little bit of ''Ortho Max,A little bit of lemon juice,a little bit of vinegar,Joy dishwashing liquid,a little bit of Ammonia,%26amp; mix it all together in a Bug Sprayer %26amp; I Know from experience that this works GRRRRREAT! You can also use this around your steps %26amp; around Your Entire House %26amp; Yard ! You will never get rid of all the ants but you will get rid of nearly all of them!!!!!Let me know how it works out for you as for me it really works!!!
Reply:Try the ideas on this web page

Reply:kill them with kindness....feed them. but only corn meal. they can't digest it and die
Reply:For fire ants Amdro is an excellent and relatively safe product that is taken into the nest and eventually fed to the queen, killing her and, within a few days, the whole colony. Read the label and follow its directions.
Reply:springle some comet or dutch cleanser on the ant hill
Reply:try grits if you are from the south it is much safer and less toxic to the environment . the ants eat the grits and they drink water and the grit expands and makes the ant die . good luck .
Reply:"bug-b-gone" and a hose... get the bottle that u can connect to ur hose and spray away. or just get a granular bug killer.. all of em kills ants..
Reply:Make sure if you get an ant poison that it is something that the ants will take back inside the hill and feed the queen. Otherwise all you'll be doing is killing the gatherers and they can be replaced very easily. I've used poison from Home Depot (sorry, can't remember the brand) and it did the job very well.
Reply:go to www.dirtdoctor.com for organic products you could use safely. hope this helps.
Reply:seven dust, u can get it just about anywhere
