How can I get rid of spiders in my garden?

My garden has what seems like hundreds of spiders, what is the best way to get rid of them and how can i keep them away.

Is there something in the garden that they like?

How can I get rid of spiders in my garden?
I'm not sure why you'd want to get rid of them unless you suffer very serious arachnophobia.

Spiders keep the fly population under control which spread allsorts of germs, I think I'd rather keep the spiders even though I'm not too fond myself.

Try and reduce creeping plants in your garden, they are a haven for spiders, apart from that I haven't seen any pesticides suitable I'm afraid.
Reply:Flies!

move the flies along and the spiders will follow, or make a hugggge fly and scare them away :o)
Reply:pour petrol all over your garden and torch the whole f##king thing............
Reply:A garden spider is one of the true mysteries of nature. With incredible adaptation skills and survival capabilities, the garden spider serves a variety of both useful and harmful purposes in your garden. Many gardeners make the mistake of killing these species of insects. The key to identifying and understanding the role of the garden spider lies in education.

Instead of immediately killing your garden spider, you can remove the insect with a simple jar. Place the spider in the jar and move the insect to another location in your yard, preferably near trees or shrubbery out of the way of human travel.

Spiders usually live in underground burrows and only surface to feed or mate. This gives them the protection and temperatures they need to survive. The garden spider has an extremely short life span and will die quickly without water or the protection of their burrows. Because they need humidity, they are drawn to sources of water such as a garden hose or pool.
Reply:Spiders are friendly and live on all the bugs, leave them alone, they were there before you.
Reply:If you want to live and thrive

let the spiders stay alive
Reply:Leave them alone.Spiders out of doors don't do any harm. They won't hurt you or spread any disease, and we don't have any biting ones in the UK.I doubt that you could clear them away and you would have difficulty in stopping them returning.
Reply:They like all the other bugs that are trying to ruin your garden. Don't get rid of them.
Reply:keep them around they are doing you a favor.
Reply:Call Spiderman.
Reply:If they realy bother you, you can buy a sonic device.

This emits a clicking sound which drives spiders away
Reply:What are they? If there dangerous then obviously you need pest control. If there just normal, harmless field spiders etc then leave them.
Reply:Spiders are essential to gardens. They keep down all sorts of other pests including wasps!!

You will never get rid of them anyway. You cant even see most of them. There are an estimated 1 million spiders to every acre in an English garden!
Reply:don't.

it's their garden more than it is yours.

sorry, got my hippy head on cos its hometime.

seriously, you'll end up killing everything if you try to kill the spiders.
Reply:Spiders will be in your garden forever its the same for every other garden. I would leave them because our garden needs them. If your frm England they are most likely wolf spiders. If your so desperate to get rid of them, then u are gonna need some form of chemical application which i wouldnt recommend.
Reply:Spiders are fine creatures, and save more human lives than any other animal. How? By eating malaria carrying mosquitoes. I have one who lives in the corner of my bedroom, I call her Iggy, and she keeps my room a mosquito free zone.

So leave the spiders alone, they're your friends.
