What is the best way to dehydrate fresh garden chives.?

My husband planted regular and garlic chives in the garden this year (my first experience with fresh chives) and I was wondering the best way to dehydrate them. I cut them, put them on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven at 250 degrees for 4 hours but that did't seem to do the trick.

Thanks for your time and your help.

Hi Kimmer, I cut them off the plant in a handful. Like you are holding a bouquet. Pick out the ones you don't want, the dead ones any weeds etc. Throw them away. Now I take my scissors and cut about 1/4" from the base, continue until all the chives are in 1/4" pieces. Put these on a couple of paper towels in a warm place. Stir every few hours. They will be dry by tomorrow afternoon. Put them in a small glass jar and keep in the freezer.
Reply:i use a reg.dehydrating machine
Reply:this is better fresh but you can can buy a fairly cheaper dehydrator ($30) at most appliance,, ie wal-marts sections
Reply:You don't. Either keep in an airtight jar, or freeze them.
