What do you think about hedgehogs visiting your garden?

We have just realised that a wild hedgehog visits our garden early evening. I have started leaving out a tiny amount of hedgehog food for it to supplement it's diet, and we saw it eat it all last night. Does anyone else have these little visitors?

What do you think about hedgehogs visiting your garden?
Ignore the previous answer, as the maroon clearly has no idea what hedgehogs are or do. Far from being pests, they eat a lot of slugs and snails and are a gardener's best friend.

Two tips: If you want your nightly visitor to become a resident, leave an undisturbed area (possibly a log pile) for it to hibernate in, and don't feed him milk - it's not good for his digestion.
Reply:its brilliant to have a hedgehogs in your garden. because of there diet there a gardeners best Friend.they eat slugs, snails and other gardening pests.i am a keen gardener and thanks to the 2 hedgehogs tha come in my garden Ive never had to use slug pellets or pest asides
Reply:The pesky little critters! They're always in my garden,i wouldn't mind but they wont even mow the lawn !
Reply:Welcome oh prickly friends ... No, we don't get hedgehogs, only pigeons, crows and magpies (1 for sorrow, 2 for luck and all that).

That's nice that you get them, they are qutie cute!
Reply:Yes, we have a hedgehog come and visit nightly. He or she gets a dollop of cat food for coming to eat all those revolting slugs. I think it's great to see. I got my girls out of bed to see it they were enthralled. His/her table manners leave a lot to be desired though!

For one of your other answerers - no disrespect, but milk upsets their stomachs and is not natural for them.
Reply:wtf is this, is this a question?

this one is ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Reply:Great that's very nice, I rescued 3 in total now, they were trapped in an old disused horses water drinking trough, they had fallen in and couldn't get out, not all at the same time, it was over a period of time, after I discovered the first one, I take a look on and off just in case, this trough is not mine or the property it is on, I just have permisson to take walks there, so I cannot fill it in, although I am in the process of filling it with stones as it is no longer used by animals. then it could be used if that person ever got animals again.

but to the point, I brought them home to my garden and fed them, and let them go in my garden, I haven't seen them since, any of them.

but I did what I could to help em, and that's good enough for me.
Reply:yes we have 2 that visit us,we feed them like u,the funny thing is that the fox sits and eats with them,
Reply:Yes, there are hedgehogs coming around here as well. They are very good creatures who also take care of some of the vermin in our gardens. I also put out a small saucer with milk for them, as they like that, too.

In the olden days visits from wild hedgehogs were seen as good omen. And I can see no reason why we should not take them the same way now and make them welcome.
Reply:it is fun
Reply:Sonic ! (the hedgehog)

no seriously you should go to yourh local garden place and see if there is something (a chemical/ect) that you can spray in the area and will keep them away

(meaning something that will annoy them and make them not want to stay)
