Is it possible to have a successful garden grown while living in an apartment?

I want to grow a garden. Veggies like tomatoes mainly, maybe some other stuff.. If anyone can help with some suggestions that would be great! I have a fairly big balcony, so there is room.

You should also see if your community has community gardens or places where you can rent a garden space. I used to have a garden plot over where a nike missile silo used to be, until they turned it into a golf course. The world needs more gardens and fewer golf courses!
Reply:A balcony is perfect for growing vegetables in the city. Be sure you get several hours of sunlight. An interesting and informative I found an interesting and helpful "How to" grow an urban/balcony vegetable garden in the following article. It is concise, but helpful:

Reply:If you have a large bucket, say a five gallon...make holes in it for drainage, place some straw in the bottom and add dirt, potting soil etc,,,and place a tomato plant in it.....you should grow tomatoes...
Reply:Hell yeah! Stick some stuff in pots.
